Week 13--Hong Kong

 This week was so busy but so good! Read below!


Pday: Shopping at Prince Edward's which is this HUGE street market with tons of shops!

Tuesday: Temple day! My first time at the temple! It is so beautiful and I'm so lucky to have a temple so close in my mission! Afterwards had DC and Elder Cederland our DL gave out our prizes for how many hours we SYLed, I got More Yogart (AKA best drink in HK). 
While doing out language study this guy comes up to us and saying in English: "are you guys missionaries?" So of course we said yes. It turns out this guy lived in Rexburg as an exchange student and lived with and LDS family and has gone to church a few times. We ended up having a lesson with him for like 40 minutes, but sadly he hasn't reached out since. 

Wednesday: Today we had to pick up my HKID card which is about 30 minutes away. On our way there on the MTR I was stumbling around (if you know you know) and this girl starts laughing at me! I thought to myself, okay I have to talk to her now. Turns out she is from the Philippines and was heading to church! We were able to share about our church and had lesson with her later that week. She is coming to church with us on Wednesday!

Thursday: Lesson with Indi! This is our friend that came to church the week before. We had the lesson at Fong姊妹 home and right away Fong姊妹 asked Indi, "have you ever thought about baptism?" It was such a good lesson and we felt the spirit so strong. 

Friday: Today was a day. We scheduled our lunch for 11-11:30 today, but as we're eating we get a text from our friend Fiona. "Can we meet at 1:00? We assume she's probably going to feed us. When we got there we were right. She took us to this really expensive restaurant and we felt so bad because we had just eaten. But basically this ended up being out dinner hour so we didn't get dinner. 
Later that night we went to the Ward sports night and I was able to show off my badminton skills. 

Saturday: Lots of finding! We went to LOHAS park for the first time which is basically just this huge mall in my area. We walked all around the promenade and i5 was beautiful.  

Sunday: WE HAD 6 FRIENDS COME TO CHURCH! Huge miracle! I love this ward so much, they're all very friendly and always race to talk to the friends we bring to church. We also had a ward birthday party afterwards and had lots of food and lots of chicken feet...  

Wow what a week! I am so grateful to be a missionary and I know I'm here to bring the fullness of the one and only True Church on earth. Each day I am learning more about my Savior Jesus Christ and His love for me and the people of Hong Kong. 

22 For behold, this is my church; whosoever is baptized shall be baptized unto repentance. And whomsoever ye receive shall believe in my name; and him will I freely forgive.

Update on my bug bites: Allen the blisters Popped (so fun) and now i just have a bunch of brown spots on my legs!

Week 9 MTC

  TOMORROWS THE DAY!  Wow what a week!  On Tuesday my whole district got to go to the temple together one last time which was so special. We did endowments and I felt the spirit so strong.  This week my eye randomly started hurting and I was so stressed it would delay my mission, but luckily I was able to go to the eye doctor and they told me I had a minor eye infection... Only took like 3 days of eye drops to heal and now I'm good, but was so annoying to wear glasses all week. Huge miracle it wasn't anything serious!  Sister Davis found a literal piece of metal in her food. That's a pretty good description of how MTC food is if you're curious.  Fire in R9?? Jk, but on Friday night at 10:30pm ish the fire alarm went off AS I was going to bed. Everyone had to get out of the building in their PJs and it was so funny. Week 5--MTC

  Hello everyone! This week has been good! Lots of language class and lots of mtc food.  Highlights:  Monday: Got to go to the Temple on Pday and did sealings for a family with 9 kids which was so amazing!!  Tuesday: St. Patricks day! Everyone wore green and it was so cute. Wednesday: Started learning how to teach the plan of salvation in Cantonese which is so hard and so confusing! The gift of tongues is so real because how the heck am I speaking Chinese!  Thursday/Friday: Not as whole lot happened, classes everyday and lots of Cantonese which is good.  Saturday: Best class ever. Earlier this day we were telling our language teacher Sister Gamboa how we wish our teachers would open up about their struggles with the language more and have opportunities to hear more about the culture in HK, and guess what! Our class later that night our teacher showed us videos of when he was in the MTC and we were able to ask questions about the culture. It was such a good ...

Week 6-7-MTC and Home

 Maddie came home on March 29th as her dad was about to die.  Here is here email the following day: Hey everyone,  I'm sure most of you already know, but my Dad passed away yesterday.  So this email is going to be all about him.  My Dad is literally the funniest person I know. Whenever I make a joke it always stems from his humor. His jokes were always so unique and made every one around him laugh. There was nothing better than my dad's laugh. Fun fact the last thing my dad sent me was in fact a Dad joke.  My Dad is so incredibly generous. He always took care of his daughters needs before his own. Whenever we were feeling sad, scared, or even happy Dad would always send us some money to get a treat or surprise us with some kind of treat. His love language is definitely giving to others and I strive everyday to be more like him.  When I was in middle school and didn't have a lot of friends my Dad was my best friend.
