Week 6-7-MTC and Home

Maddie came home on March 29th as her dad was about to die.  Here is here email the following day:

Hey everyone,

I'm sure most of you already know, but my Dad passed away yesterday.  So this email is going to be all about him.

My Dad is literally the funniest person I know. Whenever I make a joke it always stems from his humor. His jokes were always so unique and made every one around him laugh. There was nothing better than my dad's laugh. Fun fact the last thing my dad sent me was in fact a Dad joke.

My Dad is so incredibly generous. He always took care of his daughters needs before his own. Whenever we were feeling sad, scared, or even happy Dad would always send us some money to get a treat or surprise us with some kind of treat. His love language is definitely giving to others and I strive everyday to be more like him.

When I was in middle school and didn't have a lot of friends my Dad was my best friend. He got me into Starwars, Lord of the Rings, and of course Anime. He always said I was the son he never had . If you don't know me, I was OBSESSED with Star Wars (still am) just because it was something I enjoyed so much watching with my Dad. We bonded so much over these things as well as his silly 80s movies.  I'm so thankful for these memories with my amazing Dad.

My favorite thing about my Dad was his testimony. Even through all the hard times my Dad always thanked God and knew how much God loved him and his family. My favorite memories with my Dad were our late night talks where we would just talk about EVERYTHING. My testimony is so strong because of my Dad. He was living proof that I have a father in Heaven that loves me. Even as a missionary my favorite lesson to teach and learn about is the Plan of Salvation just because my Dad would always talk and about it and describe it in the most amazing way. I learned to recognize the spirit through these chats with my dad.

He would talk about all of his miracles and funny stories on his mission in Korea, and that's why I'm serving today.
When I found out I was serving in China I was sooo excited because I've always wanted to have a mission like my Dad's and now I get to serve in Asia like him! Before I left we would talk for hours searching up the food, culture, and sights of Hong Kong. I know he is so proud of me and all of his daughters for serving.

For those of you who are home, my Dad's funeral is this Friday at 11am. All family and friends are welcome and I'll be there as well.

I know for a fact my Dad will help me teach the people of Hong Kong and will always be with me. I know without a doubt I will see my Dad again. If you don't have this knowledge I encourage you to reach out to missionaries, there is no greater joy than the one that Jesus Christ gives through his True Church.

A week later:

Hello everyone! I made it back to the MTC!

The past week I have been at home with my family for my Dad's funeral which I am so thankful I was able to do that. I got back on Saturday,  so here's a few short highlights.

General Conference was so amazing! I loved how much it talked about eternal families and how death is not the end BECAUSE of Jesus Christ. I felt such a great peace while listening to General Conference. I know God sees and hears me and everyone individually!

Even with everything that has happened I have felt so much love and joy. Thank you everyone for the support and prayers.

Only 2 more weeks and then I will be in HONG KONG! So stay tuned...
